Authentication!

This is important because some individuals have difficulty understanding these settings. Our server requires authentication! What that means, is that our server requires a user id, and password in order to send out email. If your outlook client is not set up to use authentication you will NOT BE ABLE TO SEND OUT EMAIL!

The setting that applies is that authentication should be checked and ON (but NOT SSL authentication aka secure authentication) and it uses same info as incoming mail server (which is your full user id including name@domain.com) and your full case sensitive password. Some mail software allows you to select "Use same settings as incoming mail" which may be easiest.

Step-by-step setup guide in Windows XP and MS Outlook Express.

First we need to reach the following screen by launching "Outlook" or "Outlook Express". A trip to your start menu will let you know if you have the software loaded on your PC. When outlook express has started you will see "Outlook Express" in the upper left corner of your screen. When you see that, look for the "tools" menu. Follow Tools, to "Accounts", an "Internet Accounts" screen will display itself. On that screen, look for "Add >" when you select that button, release your mouse on "Mail..." and you will enter the "wizard" process illustrated below. You should have received an email about your email account containing your original login and administrative infomration. You will need that information to succesfully send and receive email on your new internet server.

In this first text area you will type in your real name, exactly how people would want to see it. Your outgoing email will bear this information.

2 This is what will determine how people reply back to your email. It needs to be the email address for your account, to which you want people to reply.

3
this is how your mail software will locate our mail server. It uses our server (now your server too!) to send out your email, and to hold your incoming email for you to collect.

4 Our server also needs to know you are authorized to send and receive mail through it. Use your full email address, and password to set this up. note that setting your computer to "remember password" can be a security risk.

5 When you return to Outlook you should be able to locate a "Send/Receive" button. Use that to check for mail. Sending email will help you to verify that you are correctly set up to send mail. If you can, try sending an email to another email account you are responsible for.
